GAC Media FRP Vessel 10x54 – Automatic Backwash Complete with Media
The GAC Media FRP Vessel 10x54 with automatic backwash is a complete water-filtration system designed to reduce chlorine, odours, organic compounds and selected volatile organic compounds (VOCs). It includes a durable 10x54 FRP vessel, a RUNXIN automatic backwash head and granular activated carbon (GAC) media for residential, commercial and selected process-water applications.
GAC media helps improve water taste and odour, while automatic backwashing cleans and loosens the media bed to support consistent operation and reduce manual maintenance.
Automatic backwash: RUNXIN valve provides scheduled media cleaning.
Durable FRP vessel: Corrosion-resistant and suitable for pressurised water systems.
Residential and commercial capacity: Designed for moderate point-of-entry flow requirements.
Operating pH range: Approximately 5.5–9.5, subject to the selected carbon and feed-water chemistry.

GAC Filter Residence Time and Flow Rate
The chart below compares estimated media residence time across common FRP vessel sizes at different flow rates. For effective granular activated carbon treatment, a contact time of approximately 3 minutes or longer is generally preferred, subject to feed-water quality, carbon specification, treatment objective and the contaminants being addressed.
Operating Considerations
Provide sufficient backwash flow to expand and clean the media bed.
Allow adequate freeboard for media expansion during backwashing.
Actual treatment performance depends on contaminant concentration, competing organics, temperature, pH and contact time.
Carbon replacement frequency must be based on water quality, throughput and breakthrough monitoring rather than time alone.
