Low Pressure - High‑Flow Thin‑Film Composite RO Membrane for Commercial Drinking Water Applications

The DuPont™ TapTec™ LC HF‑4040 is a large commercial-grade, spiral-wound RO element designed for high-flow drinking water systems. It combines DuPont’s 40+ years of membrane innovation with reliable salt rejection, fast performance stabilisation, and cost-effective operation—making it ideal for cafés, restaurants, offices, lodges, and large residential installations.

Key Features:

  • Ultra‑High Flow Rate: Average permeate flow of 2 800 gpd (10.6 m³/day) under standard conditions

  • Outstanding Salt Rejection: Minimum 98.5%, stabilised to 99.0%

  • Rapid Stabilisation: Engineered for quick startup and consistent output

  • Proven Durability: High resistance to pressure fluctuations up to 600 psi (optimised below 300 psi)

  • Value‑Driven Performance: Delivers exceptional long-term ROI in commercial environments

Technical Specifications:

  • Membrane Type: Polyamide Thin‑Film Composite (spiral-wound)

  • Model: TapTec™ LC HF‑4040

  • Permeate Flow Rate: 2 800 gpd (10.6 m³/day) at 25 °C, 1 500 ppm NaCl, 15% recovery, 150 psi

  • Salt Rejection: Minimum 98.5%, Stabilised at 99.0%

  • Element Length (A): 1 016 mm (40″)

  • Outer Diameter (C): 99 mm (3.9")

  • Inner Diameter (B): 27 mm

  • Dry Weight: 1.5kg

  • Feed Spacer Thickness (D): 31 mil

  • Maximum Operating Pressure: 41 bar (600 psi), optimally operated below 20.7 bar (300 psi)

  • Maximum Feed Flow Rate: 3.6 m³/h (16 gpm)

  • pH Range (Continuous): 3–10

  • pH Range (Cleaning): 2–12

  • Maximum Operating Temperature: 35 °C (95 °F)

  • Maximum Pressure Drop (Per Element): 1.0 bar (15 psi)

  • Maximum Silt Density Index (SDI): < 5

  • Free Chlorine Tolerance: < 0.1 ppm (must be removed prior to membrane)

Applications:

  • Medium-to-large RO systems for drinking water

  • Commercial foodservice and beverage RO systems

  • Hotels, lodges, offices, and clinics

  • Water vending and bottling equipment

  • Industrial pre-treatment with point-of-use quality demand

Benefits:

  • High flux rates reduce the number of elements required

  • Consistent performance and fast stabilisation cut operating costs

  • Operates reliably under fluctuating pressure conditions

  • Backed by DuPont’s robust quality control and global support

Installation & Operating Guidelines:

  • Pre-treat feed water to remove chlorine and protect membrane integrity

  • Slowly ramp feed pressure over 30–60 seconds during startup; gradually increase cross-flow velocity

  • Mount in standard 4″ pressure vessels, up to 600 psi rating

  • Maintain in the operational pH range for optimal membrane life
