Manual backwash heads are a simple, cost-effective solution for operating media filtration vessels where automated control is not required. Designed for use with sand, AFM®, Birm, Katalox Light, GAC, and other filtration media, these heads allow users to manually initiate and control backwash cycles—removing trapped sediment and contaminants to restore filter efficiency and extend media life.

Ideal for borehole systems, rainwater harvesting, pre-filtration, and light commercial or residential water treatment, manual backwash valves are typically mounted onto FRP vessels (e.g. 8x35, 10x54, 13x54, etc.) and feature easy-turn levers or rotary dials to switch between service, backwash, and rinse modes. Available in various thread sizes and port orientations to suit different system designs.

• Designed for use with media filtration vessels (manual operation)
• Suitable for AFM®, Katalox Light, Birm, GAC, Zeolite, etc.
• Port sizes typically ¾”, 1”, or 1½” BSP (model dependent)
• Compatible with 8”, 10”, 13”, and 14” FRP vessels
• Easy lever or dial-based control—no power required
• Made from durable, corrosion-resistant materials

✔ Ideal for off-grid, remote, or low-maintenance water treatment setups
✔ No electricity or automation needed
✔ Cost-effective and easy to install
✔ Reliable operation for domestic, agricultural & small commercial use
