Hunter PSR-52 Pump Start Relay - 5.6 kW at 230 V, 40 A

The Hunter PSR-52 Pump Start Relay provides dependable automatic pump activation from a standard 24 VAC irrigation controller. It keeps the controller's low-voltage circuit separate from the pump's mains supply and is specifically designed for single-phase pumps.

For a 230 VAC single-phase installation, the PSR-52 can start a pump motor rated up to 5.6 kW, provided the pump's nameplate full-load current does not exceed 40 A and its starting characteristics are compatible with the relay.

Use it when an irrigation system draws water from a borehole, storage tank, dam or other pumped supply and the pump must start whenever the controller calls for irrigation.

Pump selection requirements

• The connected pump must be single phase.
• At 230 VAC, the pump motor must not exceed 5.6 kW.
• The pump's nameplate full-load current must not exceed 40 A.
• The pump's starting current and duty must be suitable for the relay.
• Both the power and current limits must be satisfied; neither rating should be used on its own.

Installation guidance

• Install at least 4.5 m from the irrigation controller.
• Confirm the pump nameplate voltage, phase, full-load current and starting current before selection.
• Mains-voltage wiring and protection must be completed by a suitably qualified person in accordance with local regulations.

Important: The PSR-52 is not selected only by motor power. For a 230 VAC pump, the motor must be single phase, rated at no more than 5.6 kW, remain within the 40 A maximum full-load rating and have compatible starting characteristics.
